My tamagotchi isn’t turning on after only removing that back side

I was messing with my tamagotchi and i removed the back slide (where you replace the batteries) and the screen is just blank, i got this tamagotchi yesterday

you still have a tamagotchi, you must of been feeding that thing for what over 20 years or is there a new model
